Dog Point, Sauvignon Blanc 2025, Marlborough, 75cl
Dog Point is one of Marlborough’s benchmark producers, founded by Ivan Sutherland and James Healy, formerly of Cloudy Bay. Based in the Wairau Valley, the estate works its vineyards organically, with low yields, hand harvesting and a deliberately restrained approach that produces Sauvignon Blanc with greater texture and complexity than the classic overtly tropical Marlborough style.
The Sauvignon Blanc is whole-bunch pressed, with a significant proportion fermented using indigenous yeasts before ageing in stainless steel. Bright and energetic, it combines lemon, lime and grapefruit with white peach, fresh herbs, flint and saline minerality, finishing crisp, dry and lightly textured. A brilliant match for fresh seafood, grilled fish, goat’s cheese and vibrant Asian dishes, where the wine’s citrus freshness and herbal character really come into their own.
"The 2025 Sauvignon Blanc is textural and salty, savory and complex. I love this wine for its tether to place, but its elevation beyond it. It isn't overt in its styling, nor pungent in its aromas; it is classy—a sophisticated showing of the best attributes of the variety. 12.5% alcohol, sealed under screw cap. Drink 2026-2029" 94/100 The Wine Advocate
