South Africa has emerged as one of the world's most exciting wine-producing countries, combining historic vineyards, remarkable geological diversity and a new generation of ambitious winemakers. From the Mediterranean climate of the Cape to cooler coastal and high-altitude sites, the country produces an extraordinary range of styles, with Chenin Blanc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, Chardonnay and Pinot Noir among its greatest strengths.

Stellenbosch remains at the heart of South African fine wine, particularly renowned for structured, age-worthy Cabernet Sauvignon and Bordeaux blends. Further north, the Swartland has become synonymous with old vines, Chenin Blanc and increasingly refined expressions of Syrah, exemplified by leading producers such as Mullineux. The cool, maritime Hemel-en-Aarde Valley produces some of the country's finest Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, while historic Constantia, home to Klein Constantia, is renowned for elegant cool-climate wines and the legendary sweet Vin de Constance.

A dynamic generation of growers and winemakers has brought an ever-greater focus on old vines, individual vineyards and distinctive terroirs, producing wines of increasing precision, finesse and character. From vibrant Chenin Blanc and elegant Chardonnay to perfumed Pinot Noir and powerful, structured reds, South Africa combines world class quality with some of the most compelling value in fine wine today.
