Mas de Daumas Gassac
Founded in the late 1960s by Aimé Guibert and his wife Véronique, Mas de Daumas Gassac was born from their recognition of the extraordinary potential of the remote Gassac valley. With early guidance from legendary oenologist Émile Peynaud, the estate transformed perceptions of the quality possible in the region. Often referred to as “the Lafite of the Languedoc”, the world-famous red is an intriguing blend of Cabernet Sauvignon alongside indigenous and less common southern varieties such as Grenache, Cinsault and Tempranillo.
Mas de Daumas Gassac is a remarkably versatile wine that can be enjoyed at different stages of its life. With good storage, Mas de Daumas Gassac can age 20 years or more, evolving from fruit-driven vibrancy in its infancy into complex mature notes of woodland, spice and savoury nuance. Ideally served at room temperature (18–19°C), it benefits from being opened several hours in advance and, where possible, decanted to allow its full complexity to emerge. We can offer the fabulously fresh, spicy and elegant 2016 along with a wonderful selection of mature vintages going all the way back to 1985.
