2013 Vacqueyras Blanc Mineral, Montirius
Montirius is beautifully situated in the southern Rhône Valley with vine classifications in Gigondas, Vacqueyras and Côtes du Rhône. Since 1999, all of the wines are made from Organic and Bio-dynamic grapes. Mineral Blanc is made from 50% Bourboulenc, 25% Roussanne and 25% Grenache Blanc with the name deriving from the salty mineral taste that intensifies as the wine ages in bottle.
"(raised entirely in stainless steel tanks): Light, bright gold. Pungent aromas of dried orchard fruits and pit fruits, complicated by honey and chamomile qualities. Smooth and broad in the mouth, offering poached pear, melon and candied orange flavors braced by juicy acidity. Smoothly combines power and finesse, finishing smooth and quite long, with lingering pit fruit character." Josh Raynolds, Vinous.com, April 2016
