Domaine Roulot, Meursault Les Tessons Clos de Mon Plaisir 2009, 75cl

Domaine Roulot is one of the great names of Meursault, today run by Jean-Marc Roulot, who has built an extraordinary reputation for Chardonnay of purity, precision and longevity. Rather than blending his village holdings together, Roulot vinifies his different Meursault lieux-dits separately, allowing vineyards such as Les Tillets, Les Luchets and Les Tessons to show their individual character.

Les Tessons Clos de Mon Plaisir is widely regarded as a vineyard of Premier Cru quality. Roulot's small walled parcel sits mid-slope with a south east exposure, combining limestone derived minerality with sufficient clay to give the wine impressive depth and texture. Typically more substantial than some of Roulot's other village Meursaults, it combines citrus and orchard fruit with hazelnut, white flowers and a pronounced stony minerality. There is richness and concentration here, but also the tension, precision and long, mineral finish that define Roulot's style.
