Chateau Climens is one of the great names of Barsac and among the finest sweet wine estates in Bordeaux. Classified Premier Cru in 1855, the estate is unusual for being planted almost entirely to Semillon, grown on Barsac’s distinctive limestone rich soils. Often referred to as the “Lord of Barsac”, Climens is renowned for a particularly refined style: intensely aromatic and concentrated yet wonderfully fresh, with notes of citrus, stone fruit, honey and spice developing greater complexity over decades in bottle.

1967 was an outstanding vintage for Sauternes and Barsac, producing rich, botrytis affected wines with the concentration and acidity required for exceptional longevity.

Spectacular on the nose with otherworldly intensity, the scents of yuzu, marmalade, quince and Mirabelle are completely intoxicating. Despite the intensity, there is incredible delineation. The palate is tensile and fresh, the acidity slicing effortlessly through the layers of botrytised fruit, blood oranges and quince on the vivid finish that is so long you can feel flavours lapping against your senses a minute later.
