Perrier Jouet Belle Epoque Rose 2012, Champagne, 75cl
Founded in Epernay in 1811, Perrier-Jouët is one of Champagne’s most historic houses, renowned for an elegant, floral style built around Chardonnay. Its close association with art and nature is epitomised by the famous Belle Epoque bottle, decorated with Japanese anemones originally designed by Art Nouveau artist Émile Gallé in 1902.
Belle Epoque Rosé is the rare and beautifully expressive rosé interpretation of the house’s prestige cuvée, produced only in exceptional vintages. Chardonnay provides the characteristic finesse and floral elegance of Belle Epoque, complemented by Pinot Noir for greater structure, depth and red fruited character. Produced in limited quantities and given extended ageing in Perrier-Jouët’s cellars, it is an elegant, refined and age-worthy expression.
"The 2012 Brut Rosé Belle Epoque is showing very well and must rank as one of the finest recent releases of this Chardonnay-based prestige cuvée from Perrier-Jouët. Offering up a pretty bouquet of white peach, spring flowers, strawberry, freshly baked bread and warm biscuits, it's medium to full-bodied, elegant and seamless, its delicately fleshy core underpinned by lively acids and complemented by a beautifully refined mousse. Drink 2020-2040." William Kelley, The Wine Advocate
