2024 Bramito Chardonnay, Castello della Sala
Castello della Sala is arguably Italy's most famous white wine estate with the fossil rich soil found here perfect for producing top quality Chardonnay. The mouth-watering Bramito comes from the estate’s younger vines and is 100% Chardonnay. Part-barrel fermented, showing good quality rich and creamy fruit, light pineapple peel and crisp golden apple. Floral, sapid and mineral in character, with a short stay in oak. Excellent fresh finish and a great value alternative for lovers of white Burgundy.
This beautiful medieval estate run by Marchesi Antinori is located on a hilltop near Orvieto in Umbria, near the Tuscan border. The vines grow in clay and calcareous based soils, rich in fossil shells, and they are well exposed to the rising of the sun with an excellent difference of temperature between day and night.
"The Castello della Sala 2024 Chardonnay Bramìto della Sala shows hints of bergamot tea and chamomile. The wine is primary and fresh, with 40% of the fruit fermented in oak (with malolactic fermentation) and the rest in stainless steel. There is a citrusy note that adds verticality and brightness, and the wine has a hint of reduction that underlines the purity of its fruit. This pretty expression is full of tension and energy. Drink 2025-2028." The Wine Advocate
