Catena Zapata's Adrianna Vineyard, high in the foothills of the Andes in Mendoza's Uco Valley, is one of the world's most remarkable Chardonnay sites. Planted at almost 1,500 metres above sea level, its extraordinary altitude, cool climate and complex limestone rich soils produce wines of exceptional precision, minerality and ageing potential. Much like the finest vineyards of Burgundy, subtle differences in soil and exposure give rise to Chardonnays with wonderfully distinct personalities.

White Bones Chardonnay comes from a tiny parcel of the Adrianna Vineyard, named for its distinctive soils containing limestone deposits and fossilised animal bones. It is a beautifully distinctive, terroir driven Chardonnay, combining citrus and white orchard fruit with floral notes, herbs and a striking chalky minerality. The palate is wonderfully precise and energetic, with vibrant acidity, fine texture and a long, saline finish. A sophisticated, ageworthy Chardonnay that will appeal particularly to lovers of great white Burgundy, while retaining a character entirely its own.  Excellent with turbot, scallops, lobster, roast chicken or creamy mushroom dishes.

"The 2020 Chardonnay Adrianna Vineyard White Bones from Gualtallary was aged for 16 months in used barrels. Green in the glass. The complex nose presents notes of ginger initially followed by hints of mint, green apple and iodine. The aging process helps to bring out the grape’s flavors. In the mouth, it’s compact with a taut, saline flow, creamy feel and finish in which the flor leaves a dry, cleansing sensation. An enticing wine. Drink 2022-2030."  Joaquín Hidalgo, Vinous.com
