Chateau Mauvesin Barton 2014, Moulis en Medoc, 75cl
Chateau Mauvesin Barton is the Moulis estate of the legendary Barton family, owners of Chateau Leoville Barton and Langoa Barton in Saint Julien. Acquired by the family in 2011, the property has since benefited from significant investment and the same generations of Bordeaux expertise behind their famous classified growths. The vineyards sit on a mix of clay-gravel and fine gravel soils in Moulis-en-Medoc, producing a classic Left Bank blend with a generous proportion of Merlot.
"The 2014 Mauvesin-Barton has an open and generous, very pure, almost Côte de Beaune-like bouquet with red cherries, wild strawberry and light rose petal aromas. The palate is medium-bodied with fine grain tannin, brisk and breezy, not a deep or grippy Left Bank wine but balanced and fresh, the oak judiciously used towards the easy-going but satisfying finish. Fine. Drink 2019-2028." Neal Martin, Vinous.com
