Champagne

Champagne is the world's most celebrated sparkling wine, renowned for its remarkable combination of elegance, complexity and longevity. At the heart of its greatest wines are the region's historic grape varieties - Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier - grown across a remarkable patchwork of vineyards and villages, where differences in soil, aspect and climate give rise to an extraordinary diversity of styles.

From the chalk-rich Côte des Blancs, famed for the purity and mineral precision of its Chardonnay and some of the world's greatest Blanc de Blancs, to the Pinot Noir-dominated Montagne de Reims and Aÿ, Champagne's individual terroirs have increasingly come to the fore. Further west, the Vallée de la Marne is particularly associated with Pionot Meunier, a variety capable of producing wonderfully expressive, fruit-driven wines, while the Côte des Bar has emerged as an exciting source of characterful, terroir-focused Champagne.

Historic Houses such as Krug, Bollinger, Louis Roederer and Dom Pérignon sit alongside influential growers including Jacques Selosse, Cédric Bouchard and Jérôme Prévost, together showcasing the remarkable breadth of Champagne today. Styles range from classic non vintage (NV) blends and Rosé Champagne to Blanc de Blancs, Blanc de Noirs and single-vineyard wines, as well as great Vintage Champagnes and prestige cuvées capable of developing beautifully with age. Whatever the style or occasion, no great celebration feels quite complete without Champagne.
