2016 Granite Syrah, Mullineux

The Granite Syrah is the most perfumed and elegant of Mullineux's single-terroir Syrahs. The nose has floral and fresh loganberry notes. The palate is medium to full bodied and delicately spicy, with some young mulberry leaf and fruit character. The tannins are fine-grained and there is a fresh, natural acidity. Ageing potential 15 – 25 years. Decanting recommended. 

"The nose of the 2016 Granite Syrah displays all of the classic expressions—dusty dark fruit, black pepper with soft smoky and herbal tones. On the palate, the wine displays more structure and power than the other Syrah bottlings in the range and stands with a slight rigidity and firm structure. The finish is elegant and thoughtfully crafted, and it will last for decades. I have always had a great appreciation for these wines, as they show a sense of place, with the precision of world-class winemaking.
