Goutorbe-Bouillot Clos des Monnaies 2010 Champagne 75cl
The tiny 0.28-hectare walled vineyard of Clos des Monnaies was planted in 1930 by Jules Goutorbe and takes its name from Roman coins discovered on the site.  Planted to equal parts Chardonnay and Pinot Meunier, the wine is fermented and matured in old oak barrels before spending over 50 months on its lees and a further year in bottle prior to release. With just over 1,000 bottles produced, the outstanding 2010 vintage combines impressive richness and depth with the freshness and tension that define the House style.  Now with more than 15 years of maturity, it has developed beautifully, offering layers of complexity while retaining remarkable energy and precision.
