2022 Sauvignon Blanc, Klein Constantia
A fresh, vibrant Sauvignon Blanc from one of South Africa’s most iconic estates with talented winemaker Matthew Day drawing influence from the great Sauvignons of the Loire Valley. Grown on the cool, ocean-breezed slopes of Constantia, just south of Cape Town, it retains bright natural acidity and a clean, zesty character. Each vineyard parcel is vinified separately, then masterfully blended to reflect the purity and complexity of Klein Constantia’s unique terroir. A perfect pairing with seafood and lighter dishes.
"The 2022 Sauvignon Blanc comes from 42 vineyard parcels and undergoes an 80% wild ferment so that some take up to two months to finish, aged 5% in barrel and six months on the gross lees. The intense nose has bruised apple, nettle, lime and light orange pith scents. I can imagine this having wide appeal. The palate has quite a tropical-tinged opening with touches of mango and pineapple, yet the "Savvy" DNA still comes through, and there is admirable bite on the finish. Delicious. Drink 2024-2034."
