2014 Riesling Schimbock Trocken, Daniel Vollenweider
"From up to 100-year-old, ungrafted vines on grey slate with some ferric oxide--and picked on October 16 (the last day of the harvest)--the 2014 Riesling Schimbock is complex and very subtle on the flinty and herbal, delicately fruity nose. The alcoholic fermentation stopped with almost 12 grams per liter of residual sugar at 11.7% alcohol, which makes this a charming intellectual that is as delicate and elegant as it is mineral and finesse-full on the palate. It has a silky texture and the finish is long and stony, full of tension and great balance. Very long aftertaste. This wine goes into the market in September 2016. Drink 2020-2030."
