2005 Cotes du Vivarais La Syrare, Alain Gallety
2005 is a great vintage of this under the radar gem that will benefit greatly from decanting. A blend of 30% Grenache and 70% Syrah from old vines with low yields (12 to 15 hl/ha). Maceration for 45 days then aging in new oak barrels for 2 years. This wine is bottled without fining or filtration.
"Here is a wine, a grower (and perhaps an appellation) that deserves not to stay below the proverbial radar. Across the Rhone from the Coteaux du Tricastin, Alain Gallety (who took the reins here in 1982 at the age of 18)" David Schildknecht, The Wine Advocate
