Lebanon
Lebanon has one of the world's oldest winemaking traditions, with vines cultivated here for thousands of years. Today, its fine wine reputation centres on the high-altitude Bekaa Valley, where warm, dry summers, cool nights and limestone rich soils provide excellent conditions for producing characterful, long lived wines.
No estate is more closely associated with Lebanese fine wine than Château Musar. Founded by Gaston Hochar in 1930 and later brought to international prominence by his son Serge, Musar has developed a uniquely distinctive style from Cabernet Sauvignon, Cinsault and Carignan. Extended ageing and a deliberately hands-off approach create complex, savoury and wonderfully individual wines that can evolve fascinatingly for decades, while Hochar Père et Fils offers a more approachable expression of the estate and Bekaa Valley terroir.
Lebanon is also home to Château Ksara, the country's oldest winery, founded in 1857 and producing everything from fresh whites and rosés to rich, structured reds, including Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah-based blends. From Ksara's classically styled wines to the unmistakable, age-worthy reds of Château Musar, Lebanon combines ancient winemaking heritage with a distinctive character and identity all its own.
