2017 Puligny Montrachet, Sylvain Bzikot
Tucked into the limestone slopes of Puligny-Montrachet, Domaine Sylvain Bzikot is one of those compelling Burgundy estates that rewards those in the know. Founded by Polish immigrants in the years surrounding the Second World War, the domaine has evolved from selling fruit to négociants into a fully estate-bottled producer under third-generation vigneron Sylvain. Today, their vineyards spread across the prized terroirs of the Côte de Beaune and yield wines defined by precision, minerality and understated elegance. From their beautifully poised Puligny Montrachet to a Bourgogne Chardonnay sourced just beyond the appellation boundary, Bzikot’s wines offer a wonderfully pure expression of place, crafted with a traditional, hands-off approach that lets the character of each parcel shine.
"The 2017 Puligny-Montrachet Village offers attractive apple blossom, crushed stone and subtle red cherry scents on the nose. The palate is fresh on the entry and quite saline, delivering sappy citrus fruit and commendable strictness and linearity toward the finish. Very fine." Neal Martin, Vinous.com
