The tiny 0.28-hectare walled vineyard of Clos des Monnaies was planted in 1930 by Jules Goutorbe and takes its name from Roman coins discovered on the site.  Planted to equal parts Chardonnay and Pinot Meunier, the wine is fermented and matured in old oak barrels before spending over 50 months on its lees and a further year in bottle prior to release. With just over 1,000 bottles produced from the outstanding 2010 vintage, it is a true collector's Champagne that perfectly showcases the estate.
