One of Champagne's most distinctive grower cuvées, Violaine is produced in tiny quantities by the biodynamic pioneer Benoît Lahaye from two exceptional Grand Cru parcels on the border of Bouzy and Tauxières. An equal blend of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay grown on shallow chalk soils, it is fermented with indigenous yeasts in old oak barrels, bottled without dosage or added sulphur, and made only in the finest years. Based on the superb 2009 vintage, this is a wonderfully pure and terroir-driven Champagne that perfectly captures Lahaye's uncompromising philosophy.
