2017 Chateauneuf du Pape Roussanne Pure, Raymond Usseglio

The Raymond Usseglio domaine is one of the top estates in Chateauneuf du Pape, and also makes this rare white Chateauneuf from 100% Roussanne - one of the 13 permitted grape varieties also used for making (red) Chateauneuf du Pape.  Impressive, dense and pure, this is an elegant version of white CDP.

"Usseglio's 2017 Chateauneuf du Pape Roussanne Pure starts off toasty, with hints of movie popcorn and melon-like fruit. All barrel fermented and aged, it's medium to full-bodied, with hints of honeyed richness but more citrus and pineapple, plus a long, crisp, zesty finish. Nicely done.
