2007 Vacqueyras Vieille Vignes, Domaine La Monardiere
"More reserved, but potentially even better if allowed some time in bottle is their 2007 Vacqueyras Vieilles Vignes, which is aged 18 months in 600-liter demi-muids. A blend of 70% Grenache, 20% Syrah and 10% Mourvedre from a selection of old vines, this wine is more backward and tannic, but it is very powerful, with an inky bluish/purple color and a sweet nose of loamy soil undertones intermixed with roasted herbs, meat juices, blackberry, and cassis. It is ripe and fleshy, with plenty of glycerin, but the tannins kick in, so I would give it 1-2 years of bottle-age and Drink it over the following 7-10 years.
This excellent estate, which has just over 40 acres of vines in Vacqueyras, produced two sensational cuvees in 2007. Drink 2010-2020." Robert Parker, The Wine Advocate
