2012 Maury Fagayra Blanc, Terres de Fagayra

A distinctive invigorating fortified sweet wine from two different terroirs with schists and limestone schists in the Languedoc-Roussillon region.  It is a blend of Grenache Blanc, Grenache Gris, and Macabeo grapes with the grapes from both terroirs harvested at the same time, and thus at different ripeness levels (the earliest maturity sets the pace).  This special feature provides liveliness and energy to the wine. It also brings out its soil-based nature, free of the traditional heaviness of Roussillonʼs "vins doux naturels".
