2014 Remelluri Reserva Rioja, Remelluri

A pretty serious Rioja made by the highly regarded Telmo Rodriguez that focuses on the purity of fruit rather than on the generous use of oak (it spends nonetheless 17 months in barrique before being bottled and further matured 3 years before release).  Organic viticulture, fine-grained tannins and pure elegance.  Tempranillo, Garnacha & Graciano.

"Aromas of dried flowers, ripe berries and tobacco continue to the palate that is medium-to full-bodied with firm, silky tannins and a flavorful finish. Classic style. Better with a little more bottle age, but already very pretty."  James Suckling
